James Grayson is a native Texan, born in Dallas, raised in Garland, and spent about a year in “Lubbock or Leave It” at Texas Tech before heading south to “Keep Austin Weird” in 1993 at the age of 20.
While spending over a decade working in the hospitality industry at popular upscale nightclubs and restaurants in Austin, James was taking classes for Photography and Geographic Information Systems at ACC. He also obtained his Real Estate license in 1996, but continued to pursue his passion behind the camera. He eventually went on to take classes towards a BFA in Photography at Academy of Art University.
In 2006, James and two friends formed Quirkee Media, LLC. Quirkee Media created websites for small and medium sized companies and also had a flagship site, a humor and entertainment e-zine at Quirkee.com, where they had a team of a dozen writers and also interviewed musicians, comedians, and actors. Quirkee Media closed up shop in 2009 but the memories will last him a lifetime.
The years following, James continued shooting photos on the side for families and live music. He entered a career path in the computer world working in web hosting, social media, and eventually becoming an IT Manager for an insurance claims company here in Austin, TX. Before starting his new venture he was the Internet and Social Media Manager at Lockhart Motor Company and had a great experience working with some of the best people in the auto industry.
After spending 5 years serving as his church’s photographer and videographer, James fell in love with video projects and eventually started videoing and editing all of the Sunday services. Grace On Productions, LLC was formed when he decided that it was time to make his passion and side hustle of 15 years his full time career. He has had the pleasure of photographing many families and events over the years, and is now enjoying adding Real Estate photography and videography to his list of services.
Almost 9 years ago James married the girl he met when he was 4 years old who drove him crazy their entire childhood. She’s now driving him crazy every day and says he wouldn’t want it any other way! They enjoy traveling and checking out new places together, spending time with their 5 kids, family and friends, rescuing another dog, and the small town Buda life.
